Today Nokia (the part not acquired by Microsoft) announced that its map app Here is officially rolling out in the Google Play app store.

The app had technically been available for Android users before today, but only as an APK (Android application package) download. Starting today, the app is finally live where the Android masses gather to discover and download new apps.

Nokia’s maps app ranks among the top four mapping platforms, alongside Google, TomTom, and OpenStreetMap. The service, which is completely free and works offline, was expected to launch before the end of 2014. But now, Nokia says the iOS app won’t be available until early next year.
