Norwest Venture Partners, the Palo Alto, Calif. venture firm, has added Joshua Goldman as a venture partner to focus on investments in consumer Internet companies.

Goldman was most recently chief executive of Akimbo Systems, a company that built a set-top box to bring video to your TV, but which struggled with that strategy, and gave up on is strategy in May (see our coverage).

Goldman joins two recent additions to NVP, Sergio Monsalve (former VP of marketing at Photobucket and eBay GM), and Tim Chang (former principal at Gabriel Venture Partners and executive at Gateway).

Prior to joining Akimbo, had been an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Sprout Group, and before that president and chief executive of mySimon, an online comparison shopping services, which was sold to CNET Networks in early 2000.
