A German court has tossed out a lawsuit against Apple to the tune of $2.2 billion.

This news closely follows a joint letter by Apple, Samsung, Google, Microsoft, and more to EU officials in which they spoke out against patent trolls. According to Microsoft’s Deputy General Counsel Horacio Gutierrez, “more work [is] needed to protect [the] European Union from patent trolls.”
