Photography community EyeEm’s latest feature teaches you to edit photos like a pro

Today EyeEm, a mobile app that’s like Instagram for people who actually care about photography, released a handful of new editing features, the most interesting of which lets you copy editing tricks from popular users.

Dubbed Open Edit, EyeEm’s new feature feels like a Photoshop Action for the mobile age. In EyeEm’s words, “Open Edit lets you explore how other photographers edit their images and makes it easy for you to try their edits on your own photos.”

Starting today, all iOS users can try out the edits of top EyeEm photographers, but for now only select users can share their editing tricks with the world. EyeEm notes that this feature, which is coming to Android “shortly,” will expand in due time:

You’ll notice the new Open Edit icon on some photos in your feed, which means an edit can be explored: Tap on the icon to reveal the filter and tools that were used, and try it on your photo with another tap. A selection of talented photographers are already part of Open Edit, and we will keep rolling out the feature gradually.

Aside from the Open Edit launch, EyeEm’s latest update introduces new filters and now enables users to adjust the intensity of those filters (like Instagram). The company has also tweaked its editing user interface, making it easier to see how various filters will affect the look of your photos.
