Developer PopCap Vancouver announced today that its upcoming team-based shooter, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, will have a public beta on January 14 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’ll last until January 18.

The original Garden Warfare came out in 2014. The sequel offers new gameplay modes (such as the 24 player Herbal Assault mode) and new classes (like the gravity grenade-chucking Imp).

Public betas like these can help developers discover and fix problems with a game before it launches, but they can also help get players excited by giving them a free sample of the game.
