Porn Time has hit a new milestone: 1 million downloads. The app launched on June 7 for Windows, Mac, and Linux, and for Android on June 18. Today’s announcement comes on July 2, meaning Porn Time has hit the seven-digit mark in less than a month.
As its name implies, Porn Time is the naughty version of Popcorn Time, the infamous app for streaming video torrents. It handles pornographic movies for you: Instead of you using a torrent client and a media player, the app takes care of grabbing the torrent file, downloading the content, and the playback all in one.

That’s certainly true, as Porn Time is benefiting from the success of Popcorn Time, which has been around for more than a year. And yet it’s still impressive: As we noted during the app’s launch, “unlike Hollywood movies and mainstream TV shows, high-quality pornography is readily available to stream for free online. There are plenty of sites that serve pornographic videos without having users sign up, download, or pay anything.”
Despite this, users around the world are clearly interested in Porn Time. The team shared the top countries with us: The U.S. leads with 13 percent of all installs, followed by Brazil with 10 percent and France with 9 percent.
To celebrate the milestone, the Porn Time has added a new feature: “The Panic Button.” If you find yourself in a situation where you need to, err, quickly stop watching porn, just press the z letter on your keyboard three times. Porn Time will immediately hide the porn and “switch to random geeky movies on YouTube.”
Yet just like with Popcorn Time, the real story here is the popularity of the app on mobile devices. Since the June 18 launch, the Android app now accounts for 46 percent of daily downloads.
It’s thus no surprise that an iOS app is in the works. Porn Time will hit iOS “very soon” for both jailbroken and non-jailbroken devices, just like Popcorn Time.
The Porn Time team says it will naturally continue to focus on expanding content, including adding more sources and more genres. Yet their ambitions don’t end there.

“We can’t wait for the release of Oculus Rift beginning of 2016… We’re still not sure how we’ll do this, but we know that it’ll be the perfect match,” Richard told VentureBeat. “Oculus Rift and Porn Time. And making Porn Time support and offer content to be viewed on Oculus Rift is our ultimate goal.”
The Internet is for porn? Apparently Porn Time is betting the sequel will be “virtual reality is for porn.”
