Prezi’s iPad app lets you pinch and zoom your way through slick online presentations

Now you can view Prezi’s dynamic online presentations on your iPad. The company announced today that its iPad app is now available on the iTunes app store.

The app will let you view Prezi presentations you’ve already created with full pinch and zoom multitouch support. Unfortunately, you can’t create new presentations from the app.

It’s a logical move for a company that has made waves with its slick presentations that forgo the traditional slides used by PowerPoint, Keynote and other presentation software. Instead, Prezi presentation zoom in and out dynamically, allowing you to choose topics that you’d like to cover on the fly, instead of being locked into a predetermined slide order. Tablets are a natural platform for viewing Prezi presentations, but I do hope that the company finds some way to add editing features into future versions of the app.

The company also says that YouTube videos, PDF files, and Flash video files won’t work with the app. Losing Flash is a given, since Apple refuses to support the format on its iOS platform, but losing access to YouTube videos and PDF files may be a huge loss to some.

Budapest, Hungary-based Prezi reports that it has 1.6 million registered users across 220 countries. The company received $160,000 in seed funding from Deutsche Telekom subsidiary Magyar Telekom, and last year it landed an undisclosed round of venture capital funding from Sunstone Capital. Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey also joined the company as an advisor last year.
