It looks like the Psychonauts are ready for a comeback.

The crowdfunding campaign on Fig for Psychonauts 2 has passed $3 million. This brings it close to the platformer sequel’s $3.3 million goal with 14 days to spare. Psychonauts 2 should have no problem earning that last bit with such a comfortable time cushion

Developer Double Fine Productions announced Psychonauts 2 earlier this month at The Game Awards. The original came out back in 2005. While it wasn’t an instant success, years of digital distribution of the PC version helped the platformer find a larger audience.

The Fig is a crowdfunding site started by Justin Bailey and developers from notable studios — like Obsidian and InXile — that had success with Kickstarter in the past. Unlike Kickstarter, Fig allows donators to actually invest — and potentially profit — from a game project. So far, Fig has successfully funded the space exploration game Outer Wild, while the action role-playing game Anchors in the Drift missed its goal.
