Salesforce just donated $100k in grants to these 10 education-focused organizations

Salesforce has reached a “milestone” for its volunteer program, with employees donating one million total hours towards improving the community. To mark this occasion, the company revealed that it will be giving out grants, each worth $100,000, to 10 groups around the world focused on supporting education.

In a Medium post, Salesforce brand journalist Emily Stanford shared that employees from over 72 countries participated, volunteering with over 11,000 different nonprofits. Most of the hours spent were within the Human Services, Education, Youth Development, and Health sectors. Hands-on contributions made up most of the volunteer activities with 600,000 hours, followed by pro bono service with 166,000 hours.

It not surprising that Salesforce has hit this milestone. After all, volunteerism is in its DNA thanks to its CEO Marc Benioff instilling his 1-1-1 model, which establishes a challenge to employees to donate 1 percent of their time to service-based projects.

As mentioned earlier, Salesforce is giving out education grants to 10 organizations. Here are the beneficiaries:

  • Donors Choose (San Francisco, Calif.)
  • The Teen Resource Centre (Saint John, New Brunswick)
  • Inspire (London)
  • Donors Choose (Chicago, Ill.)
  • AIME (Sydney)
  • Project Sunshine (New York, NY)
  • Boys and Girls Clubs (Indianapolis, Ind.)
  • Multicultural Center (Tokyo)
  • Citywise (Dublin)
  • Adelgundenheim (Munich)

Stanford’s blog post did not specify why these ten were chosen, but with such a passionate work base, it’s probably not far-fetched to think that the company held a contest to have the entire organization vote on which nonprofits to donate the grants to.
