SDForum to host third annual green energy event on Jan. 12

SDForum, Silicon Valley’s leading source of information and education in the technology community, will be hosting its third annual conference on the green sector on Tuesday, Jan. 12 starting at 8:30 a.m. Titled “The State of Clean Energy: Global Challenges and Opportunities,” the event will feature speakers from utilities, major IT players and venture capitalists.

Located at the AMD Commons Auditorium in Sunnyvale, Calif., the conference will tackle topics like how big corporations can go green — including insights from Oracle, SAP and Applied Materials — a review of the technology pushing toward a cleaner power mix, a look at China’s efforts in the sector and a predictions for how clean energy projects will appeal to investors and find financing.

Speakers and attendees will explore how corporations, startups and investors can work together toward more practical green energy sources; what role the federal and state governments should play in expediting technology development; and of course what innovations are coming down the pipe the soonest.

The event’s roster of speakers includes Hal LaFlash, director of renewable energy policy at the Pacific Gas & Electric Company; Gregg Dixon, senior vice president of marketing at demand response firm EnerNOC; Kate Sherwood, director of development at Recurrent Energy; and Dylan Steeg, senior investment manager at Intel Capital.

Camille Ricketts, the lead writer for GreenBeat will be moderating a panel on early stage investment in clean energy companies, at 2:30 p.m.
