Meet Sidecar, the delivery company.

One month after upending its entire business model with a same-day delivery service, Sidecar today announced that “deliveries represent 25% of our total ride volume in San Francisco, up from 10% in February.” This is a pretty major milestone for Sidecar, a ridesharing startup which has long trailed behind Uber and Lyft.

With this announcement, Sidecar also revealed that it has quietly launched its delivery service in Boston (starting with grocery deliveries) and Los Angeles (starting with take out deliveries).

As we’ve said before, Sidecar’s delivery service isn’t consumer-facing. That is, the company provides a delivery infrastructure for businesses like Eat24. That’s why you can’t directly “Sidecar” your lunch — not yet, at least.
