Traction Labs, a San Francisco-based marketing technology company, and Girls in Tech, a global nonprofit focused on empowering women in technology, today announced a program that offers free office space to female and minority entrepreneurs who want to be at the center of the technology community.

The program provides access to resources and mentors to help entrepreneurs connect with other founders and with venture capitalists. Diversity has been a big topic of conversation in the gaming and tech industries during the past year, and programs like this are popping up to support underrepresented minorities and women.

“Silicon Valley has recognized the problem it has with having a workforce that is not reflective of the general population,” said Kenzi Wang, founder and CEO of Traction Labs, in a statement. “We want to do our part to ensure that Silicon Valley increases their diversity numbers by offering free office space in San Francisco to underrepresented groups. It’s not just an issue for large, publicly traded technology companies, and the thousands of smaller tech startups in the area can also do their part to promote inclusion.”

Traction Labs and Girls in Tech will choose up to two applicants — with a maximize team size of three — with priority given to female, black, and Latino entrepreneurs located outside of the San Francisco Peninsula. Recipients will be given free office space for the entire summer inside Traction Labs’ headquarters in San Francisco. Criteria for selection includes a functioning prototype and the agreement that participants will “pay it forward.”

“Traction Labs’ offer for free office space is incredibly generous,” said Adriana Gascoigne, founder and CEO of Girls in Tech, in a statement. “The fact that it aligns with our vision of empowering female entrepreneurs is even better. We’re thrilled to help them find worthy female entrepreneurs who will use this opportunity to follow their dreams and find success in Silicon Valley.”
