Wix.com, maker of a code-free site builder service, claims it has more than 50 million users.
Wix.com first made a name for itself as a Flash-powered website builder tool. As interest in Flash declined, the firm shifted efforts towards HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript. Wix did not share what percentage of its sites still run Flash, but the company details that over 3 million smartphone-friendly websites have been built with Wix to date.
Wix’s transition to modern Web standards is key to its survival, as the company faces growing competition from a new breed of site creation tools like Squarespace.
