Amazon cloud crash takes out everyone but Gaddafi

Amazon cloud crash takes out everyone but Gaddafi

Slowly but surely, theories are emerging about why the Amazon cloud crashed. CNN Money cites Amazon’s weird explanation that an unnamed “networking event” created a domino effect that filled up the servers and caused them to go haywire. Unless the event was Amazon’s IT team getting blazed, how this managed to take down an entire cloud empire is unclear.

In the meantime, the list of web services that were affected by the Amazon cloud crash keeps growing. Here’s a sampling of just a few of the sites that crashed or had major problems:

Amazon said most of the sites affected by the Elastic Computing Cloud (EC2) issues would be back up today, but the Twittersphere seems to think otherwise. If you know of other sites that belong on this list, add them in the comments below.
