Slidely, a service for making photo and video slideshows, is gaining ground: The service just passed 40 million users on the heels of a $7.3 million funding round led by Benson Oak Capital.
Mobile plans aside, Slidely shares that it’s also preparing to open offices in the U.S.
Slidely chief Tom More claims his service is now “the No. 1, online slideshow platform.” While the sexiness of slideshows is debatable, the above user stats suggest that Slidely’s service has legs. In order to continue growing, however, Slidely must compete with countless other slideshow services, including Animoto and Instaplayer.
