Update April 9: Sling TV confirmed that HBO is now available.

With television, everything seems to be revolving around the debut of Season 5 of Game of Thrones and Season 2 of Silicon Valley on HBO. Sling TV is hopeful that it will launch HBO for its customers before the April 12 season debuts.

Sling TV and HBO were preparing to announce that HBO would arrive on Sling TV, the place-shifting digital video service that is owned by Dish Network.

Right now, Sling TV says that HBO will arrive on Sling TV before Saturday, April 11, along with additional app updates.

The app updates will improve the overall Sling TV experience, adding enhancements to reduce overhead and load on its servers. That means it will be better able to handle periods of heavy viewership, Sling TV said.

It will also add parental controls across all channels, letting customers manage TV shows by rating. And it will have a new mini guide update that makes it easier to find shows by subject or genre on the following devices: Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Roku players, Roku TV models, and Xbox One.

Sling TV is aiming to be the first live Internet TV service to offer linear and video-on-demand content from HBO for $15/month. HBO will be available on all devices on which Sling TV is offered. Those devices include Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Roku players, Roku TV models, Xbox One, Android, iOS, Mac, and PC.
