Spotify now works with Google’s Chromecast and Chromecast Audio

Google revealed a new partner today for its ultra-simplistic Chromecast streaming dongle: Spotify.

Announced during Google’s Nexus event in San Francisco, the company said that Spotify will work with the revamped Chromecast 2 and new music streaming dongle Chromecast Audio. Spotify support is also rolling out to the original Chromecast, Google shared, over the next few weeks.

Later, Spotify told VentureBeat that support for Chromecast Audio requires a $10 per month Spotify Premium subscription. But all users, including the free, ad-supported variety, can use Spotify with the original Chromecast and Chromecast 2.
