A day after its announced partnership with Snapchat, Square is rolling out another cash opportunity — but this one is for merchants.

Merchants will now be able to set up a gift card program ahead of the holiday season. Merchants can order gift cards from their Square point of sale. Cards will cost $1.50 each, and Square doesn’t charge a subscription fee. Over the last two weeks Square opened up a preorder window to certain merchants and already has 250,000 cards on order.

Gift cards are just the latest way that Square is flushing out its point of sale. So far this year the company has released a chip card reader, sales analytics, appointment scheduling, and inventory management tools. With an increasing number of point-of-sale options for merchants becoming available, Square may be hoping gift cards will give merchants another reason to stick around.
