A day after its announced partnership with Snapchat, Square is rolling out another cash opportunity — but this one is for merchants.
Merchants will now be able to set up a gift card program ahead of the holiday season. Merchants can order gift cards from their Square point of sale. Cards will cost $1.50 each, and Square doesn’t charge a subscription fee. Over the last two weeks Square opened up a preorder window to certain merchants and already has 250,000 cards on order.

So far this year the company has released a chip card reader, sales analytics, appointment scheduling, and inventory management tools. With an increasing number of point-of-sale options for merchants becoming available, Square may be hoping gift cards will give merchants another reason to stick around.
