Disney Interactive should be happy with its latest Star Wars mobile title. Star Wars: Commander has been downloaded more than 5 million times since its release on Aug. 21.
Star Wars: Commander is a free-to-play strategy game on iOS where the Rebels have to scrounge for resources to take on Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers. Disney, which acquired the Star Wars brand with its $4 billion purchase of Lucasfilm in 2012, said that most players have chosen to play with the Rebel Forces in the Galactic Civil War. Other nations that are ruled by the Emperor include Austria, Germany, Finland, and the Ukraine. Meanwhile, India stands out as a strong member of the Rebel Alliance, as are most countries in South America and Africa. The U.S. has also sided with the Dark Side, with the exception of North Dakota. More than 500 million troops have been deployed by both factions.
The title is the third Star Wars game published by Disney Interactive.
