Stern Pinball Arcade ensures you don’t have to drain your savings to own a classic machine

If you’re a fan of the silverball, but you live in a pinball-drought area, ownership can seem like the only option when it comes to playing modern Stern Pinball titles. When you do throw down cash on a table, you’re looking at an investment somewhere on par with a used 2006 Volkswagen Beetle, which also happens to come with the same amount of occasional weekend labor to keep the game running clean.

If this doesn’t sound like an attractive proposition, FarSight Studios — developer of Pinball Hall of Fame and Pinball Arcade — has partnered with Stern Pinball to release Stern Pinball Arcade. Essentially, this is going to be a Stern flavored version of FarSight Studios virtual pinball offerings.

This is great news for those of us that don’t have access to newer Stern Pinball titles and don’t want the hassle of owning a machine or dealing with the aggressive, and expensive, nature of the second-hand pinball market.

Which of Stern Pinball’s titles will be making the conversion over to Stern Pinball Arcade hasn’t been revealed, but I can definitely make a short list of what I want to see:

• AC/DC Premium
• Lord of the Rings
• Spider-Man
• IronMan
• Metallica LE

All of these games are extremely good — and expensive to own. Hopefully, FarSight Studios and Stern Pinball can make a virtual version of these tables happen.
