2013’s X and Y were the last entries in the main series. They were the first to use 3D models for Pokémon during battles. They followed a formula used by the franchise since the beginning: pick one of three starter Pokémon, begin traveling from town to town capturing more Pokémon while defeating the eight Gym Leaders from each city, take down a criminal organization, and then challenge the Elite Four and become Pokémon champion.
