Swarm for iOS 8 gets a widget for easy check-ins

Today Foursquare’s unbundled check-in app Swarm will receive an update that enables users to share their location from Apple’s iOS notification center. The update is rolling out to iOS 8 users today.

Swarm now takes advantage of a new feature in iOS 8 that enables third-party apps to create actionable widgets. Widgets remain second-class citizens on iOS (when compared to Android), but today’s Swarm update should make it a bit easier for users to check in, reversing some of the friction that was caused when Foursquare split itself into two separate apps.
