Task app Any.do launches AI assistant to help people get stuff done

Any.do, a task app that has been used by 15 million people, launched its AI-powered assistant today, the company told VentureBeat.

The new assistant is available in limited beta for iOS users only. An Android version is due out in the near future.

The assistant operates within the app and can be used to automate tasks or make them easier. It can also facilitate commerce and help with transactions, such as the purchase of gifts or groceries, or arranging house cleaning or laundry services. Each purchase comes with a 5-15 percent Any.do surcharge.

“After analyzing over a billion anonymized tasks captured by Any.do, we built a new type of assistant that can actually accomplish your tasks for you. Unlike fully automated solutions like Siri or Google Assistant, the Any.do Assistant automatically scans your list and selectively marks the tasks it can get done for you in the real world, then offers ways to do them. It comes to you, rather than you having to come and ask for help — a complete paradigm shift,” the company said in a statement provided to VentureBeat.

Any.do version 4.0 also comes with a new calendar and the ability to coordinate and schedule meetings.

 

“We’ve been working on this for years” said Omer Perchik, founder and CEO of Any.do in a statement. “Building a world-class self-serve tool like Any.do was just half the equation. We needed the other half, the part that helps you balance your overstretched life so you have time for the things that matter.”

The assistant is not entirely computer-driven, but is rather powered by AI and “smart supervised humans,” the company said.

Any.do was founded in 2011 and has offices in Tel Aviv and San Francisco.
