Holy physical media, Batman!

Developer Telltale revealed today that its upcoming Batman episodic game series will get a retail release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on September 13. The box will include a disk that unlocks the first of five episodes and grants access to others as they release. Telltale is on a hot streak thanks to hits like The Walking Dead and Tales from the Borderlands. Now it gets to tackle one of the most iconic superheroes ever.

The first episode releases digitally in August, and Telltale plans to announce the specific release date sometime next week. That’s also when the San Diego Comic Con, one of the biggest events for comic-based entertainment, is happening. An announcement will likely happen at the show. The digital version releases on the consoles plus PC, Mac, iOS, and Android.

Telltale has made a name for itself by creating narrative-driven, episodic games based on popular properties like The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones. Batman might be the biggest name the developer has tackled yet. He’s one of the most popular super heroes of all time. Heck, he’s one of the most recognizable fictional characters in the world.
