This week, people searched for Jon Stewart on Google a lot — more than 500,000 searches on Thursday alone. That’s probably because Thursday marked Stewart’s final appearance on television as the host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.”

In his own humorous way, he has talked to Americans about politics, culture, and other subjects for 16 years, so his departure is significant. And sure enough, Stewart showed up in Google’s search trends this week.
