At first, the idea of posing naked for a calendar was intended as a gag. Such is the sense of humor at Reaktor, a design and development firm based in Finland.
But as the notion was kicking around, the company learned that the daughter of a coworker had been diagnosed with leukemia. And suddenly, things got serious.
They decided to embrace the project as a fundraiser in honor of their colleague’s family. The result: Coders Without Clothes.
The calendar features 12 programmers posing naked in artfully constructed black and white photos. Each programmer also shares a personal story to highlight the theme of courage.
“Courage is something that we need both in our daily lives and when our world gets turned upside down,” said Reaktor’s marketing director Satu Anttila in a statement. “Our calendar is a reminder of the importance of courage.”
The cost is $27. All the profits are being donated to Kympin Lapset, a Finnish charity created by parents whose children have been diagnosed with cancer.
