Apple sold 1.3 million Apple TV units in the third quarter, which is up 170 percent year over year, CEO Tim Cook said today on the company’s quarterly earnings call.

Cook has repeatedly referred to the Apple TV device as a “hobby,” and today was no different. He said Apple has sold 4 million Apple TVs in total for the fiscal year, but those numbers don’t stack up to the continued successes of the iPad and iPhone. Apple sold 26 million iPhones and 17 million iPads this quarter.

The tiny Apple TV box costs just $99 and makes it possible to access iTunes content and video-focused apps on your home TV. It also lets you play content from iOS devices on your TV using Airplay.
