Tinder now lets you swipe ‘up’ if you REALLY like someone

Since its inception, dating app Tinder has had two main functionalities: swipe right to initiate a match and swipe left to indicate that you’re not interested. Today that changes with the introduction of a new feature called the “Super Like.”

In a blog post, Tinder announced that users can now swipe up on a person’s picture to let them know they’re more interested in that one person than anyone else they’ve swiped right on. Here’s the explanation on the new functionality from Tinder’s blog post:

Now, by swiping up, or simply tapping the new blue star icon when looking at someone’s Tinder profile, you let that special someone know that they stand out from everyone else. The person you Super Liked will take notice — when your profile appears and they’re deciding whether to swipe right, it will show up with a bright blue footer and star icon, highlighting that you Super Liked them. And when they do swipe right on your Super Like, it’ll be an immediate match!

Tinder users will get to make one “Super Like” a day — no more. You can’t store Super Likes away for a rainy day, although that may change. As Tinder continues to monetize its platform, it’s possible it might make Super Likes purchasable. We’ve reached out to Tinder for more details on the product.

The new feature will be located next to the like, refresh, and pass button in the menu bar, replacing the passport feature. Passport will now be located in Discovery Preferences.
