Tumblr is rolling out instant messaging on its blogging platform.
The company announced the new feature in a blog post ostensibly written by Aziz Ansari (we’re told this moniker was used in good fun and the post was not written by the comedian, Aziz Ansari).

The new feature will allow users to have threaded chats on Tumblr.

Not everyone will have access to chat immediately. The company said it’s rolling it out slowly across Android, iOS, and the Web. In order to get chat, you’ll need someone who has access to the feature to start chatting with you. For more information, check out Tumblr’s support page.
This is the biggest update to Tumblr since it launched GIF discovery engine Tumblr TV over the summer.
