Twitter announced today that its Answers analytics tool, which tracks app downloads attributed to Twitter, will now begin generating a wider set of data about app users.

Answers is one of the tools inside Twitter’s developer suite Fabric, but it’s also used by marketing people to make decisions about app promotion and messaging.

Answers gives app developers real-time data on things like monthly active users, daily new users, and stability stats.

With today’s update — called Audience Insights — the tool shares analytics data on users’ gender, geographic location, and top interests.

The tool can also be used to segment various types of app users, and to understand which end up buying an app or making in-app purchases. That buying group can then be compared to an app’s overall audience.
