Twitter introduces new photo sharing service, revamped search functions

Twitter photo sharingTwitter announced Wednesday that it has added a new photo sharing feature and search page for photos uploaded to its popular social site. Photobucket will partner with the site to host the photos.

Over the next few weeks the update will roll out to all users of the site. The new photo sharing service will likely hurt or potentially even kill off photo and video sharing services like yFrog, TwitPic, and Instagram.

With the introduction of the photo sharing service, Twitter hashtags will be linked to uploaded photos and videos. The next time a major disaster happens, you’ll be able to use Twitter to access a real-time feed of photos and videos associated with the event.

In somewhat less staggering news, Twitter also announced it is revamping its search results to be more personalized.
