Following earlier rumors, Twitter today formally announced the rollout of Web notifications on Twitter.com.

Twitter shares that all users will soon be able to reply to tweets within notifications in a way similar to OS X’s Twitter notifications. In case you’re uninterested in notifications, you can turn them off via the settings page.

Twitter shares that users will be able to control which types of Web notifications they want to receive, just like with email notifications [below].
