One thing we overlooked during Apple’s iTunes Radio announcement was the inclusion of a Twitter #music trending station on the new service.

As you can see in the image above, In the center of a row of featured stations is the “#music” station with the familiar blue Twitter bird logo, which was first spotted by Musically’s Stuart Dredge.
Twitter #music launched back in April as a way for the social network to identify songs that were trending among users who wanted to share what they were listening to. The service itself is a music discovery platform at heart, which uses tweets and user activity to surface new artists that are gaining in popularity. While Twitter #music’s iOS app has failed to gain attention from the majority of users, it’s possible that the iTunes Radio interest could change that.
