In advance of Google I/O later this week, Twitter is making both Twitter Kit and its telephone sign-on tool Digits open source on GitHub for Android developers.
Twitter released its Twitter Kit to Android six months ago; the kit allows developers to create apps with a tweet composer, embedded tweets, and user authentication through Twitter. Now developers can examine the tool’s source code and report bugs and fixes as they come up.
Developers will have access to coding for the twitter, twitter-core, tweet-ui, and tweet-composer kits from Twitter Kit.
Twitter is also open-sourcing its Digits tool, which allows developers to add a phone-based signup as part of their onboarding process. You can access the Digits open source page here.
