Uber’s latest feature helps you pass the cost of your ride to your employer

On-demand transit service Uber has debuted business profiles, which makes it easier for people to keep track of which rides are personal and which are for work. Riders can keep trips separate by tapping on a button to change their profile and then go on their trip. Once they’ve reached their destination, there’s no worry about all the extra paperwork.

It’s not surprising that people are using services like Uber or Lyft to get around for work — even I do it when I have to dart from meeting to meeting. But for those who have to deal with expenses, it can be time-consuming, especially if you’re paying one with your personal credit card and one with your business credit card.

Uber’s business profiles promises that you’ll never “accidentally pay on your own dime for a company ride.” In addition, you can input the reason for your ride so that weeks later, you won’t have to try and remember why you went to that address. Your receipts will also be sent to your work email, along with weekly or monthly travel reports, consolidating all your trips into a single piece of communication so it’s easier to get reimbursed.
