Over 50 million mobile apps are downloaded everyday. But know this: one in four of those apps is abandoned within 24 hours. Not to mention all that get ignored after that first day is done with.

Simply put: getting a successful app out in the world is damn hard — and having a killer app idea is only half the battle. From there comes continual pressure, from both internal and external sources, to increase downloads, engagement, and create new revenue streams or enhance current ones.

Location has become paramount in the quest to engage users and establish an app’s relevance — it’s what makes mobile devices unique, after all. But far too often, location comes as a second thought in the design phase and after. If you can determine what features are most relevant to your users, and where they use them, you can begin to increase the value of your app to your entire user base. It’s all about designing for place.

If you’re an app owner or developer, this is an unmissable webinar. Mike Schneider and Stewart Rogers will explore in much more detail how location data and design can make the difference to success.

What you’ll learn:

  • Data-driven context: The anatomy of a “location” data point and how to put it to work in your experience.
  • Categorizing behavior: Learn how to categorize user actions and what to do with the results.
  • Building App modes: putting the power of place to work in your app to anticipate user needs, monetize your app, and differentiate your app experience.
  • Case studies to demonstrate what leading apps are doing and current best practices.

Speakers:

Mike Schneider—aka SchneiderMike—VP of Marketing, Skyhook. Mike lives at the collision of technology and creativity. Mike has over a decade of experience in system architecture and hardcode backend development for companies like Pfizer, Georgia Pacific and Gillette. He took that experience to the advertising world where he built and ran technology, social, mobile, content, and analytics groups at agencies such as Hill Holiday and Allen & Gerritsen. After his agency days, he took those skills to the entrepreneurial community where he has been acting as a CMO consultant to a number of local tech companies. He co-wrote the book Location Marketing for Dummies and has been published in the Harvard Business Review.

Stewart Rogers, Director, Marketing Technology, VB Insight. Stewart heads up Marketing Technology for VB’s research division. He’s based in the U.K., and when he’s not speaking, writing, or reading about marketing techknology, sales force automation, web tools, and processes, he’s working to make VB Insight the best analysis and reports resource on the planet.
