Verizon iPhone now said to come late January with current plans

Verizon’s iPhone is coming in late January, sooner than the previously reported February 3 date, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The paper’s sources have generally been more reliable about Apple news than others, and it’s somewhat more believable than the previous report, which depended on rumors of vacation blackouts for Apple employees.

Either way, we won’t have to wait long to learn when the Verizon iPhone will finally be available, as Verizon is set to announce the phone at a New York event on Tuesday.

Additionally, it appears that the Verizon iPhone will use the carrier’s current voice and data plans (not that we thought it would receive any special treatment), according to Reuters.

This means that Verizon iPhone users would be paying a bit more than they would on AT&T, which offers a slightly cheaper maximum data plan. But AT&T’s data plan is capped at 2 gigabytes, while Verizon still offers unlimited data to its users for $30 a month. Verizon also offers unlimited night and weekend voice minutes on its $40 base plan, while AT&T limits minutes during those times.
