Who needs MTV? VJay for iPad lets you mix your own trippy music videos

Vjay allows users of any experience level to mix and record their favorite videos, songs, music videos and create interactive videos. With its slick user interface, Vjay offers the latest in DJing technology that can be streamed wirelessly to your Apple TV, directly to your home theater, or even at your favorite club.

The Vjay app, like all of Algoriddim’s iOS apps, syncs with your iTunes library in order to remix your favorite tunes. The touchscreen controls are easy to use, bringing together video scratching and looping tools. Don’t feel like breaking a sweat? One of its popular features allows users of the app to run the Auto mix mode where any iTunes playlist is mixed automatically.

“We’ve gained a lot of expertise over the years on how to design and develop cutting edge technology for the Apple book platform,” Karim Morsy, CEO of Algoriddim, told VentureBeat. “On the iPad it’s really the first of its kind out there.”

Beyond mixing songs and videos from some of your favorite artists, what makes Vjay so intriguing is its ability to mix some of your own personal videos and songs. Whether you’re interested in becoming a DJ people groove to at the club, or wanting to create the next greatest wedding video phenomenon, or even pumping up the jam in the basement of your home, this app provides the same audio,  physical effects and music sensations of a real turntable.

Although the numbers could not be release, Morsy explained that the company’s apps have been “consistently among the top selling apps on iPad and iPhone devices. It really is one of the best selling music apps in the store.”

The Vjay app isn’t complicated, and it even comes with sample videos to mix in case your collection is a little dry.

“DJing shouldn’t be as hard as current existing solutions,” Morsy said. “It’s something that’s fun and entertaining and our concept is that we really wanted to have a fun and tight innovation. We wanted to give users the possibility to interact with their music. They can start getting creative with their own music, and that’s what people really love about our apps.”

Vjay for iPad costs $9.99 and is available to purchase now from the iTunes store.
