Voke is teaming up with Intel to produce the first-ever live, full stereoscopic virtual reality broadcasts from New York Fashion Week.

Santa Clara, California-based Voke produces live VR events, and it will broadcast VR content from 13 designer shows next week, from September 8 to September 14, in partnership with Intel, which is the official technology partner of NYFW: the Shows SS’17.

The broadcasts will use Voke’s TrueVR tech platform to put viewers at the runway for full immersion in Fashion Week, the company said. An Intel experience powered by Voke’s TrueVR will cover 13 designer shows live from The Gallery at Skylight Clarkson Square and will be available to fans in two formats: True VR for Samsung Gear VR headsets and an immersive 2D offering for viewers online.

“We are focused on changing the way people experience and engage with live events by giving viewers control over where they sit, what they see and when they see it,” said Voke cofounder and CEO Sankar Jayaram in a statement. “New York Fashion Week is one of the most iconic live events in the world, and by partnering with Intel, we are enabling fans, no matter where they are, to be transported onto the runway through virtual reality for the first time ever. It’s a groundbreaking opportunity.”

Fans can access the TrueVR experience by downloading Voke’s Samsung GearVR app from the Oculus Store and using a Gear VR headset and Samsung mobile phone. The immersive 2D offering will be streamed live on NYFW.com and many of the designers’ websites. Voke will also make highlights and video-on-demand content available through the same outlets for those who are unable to watch it live.

The 13 designer shows that will be featured in VR include: Noon by Noor, Supima, Marissa Webb, Telfar, Misha Collection, Lisa N. Hoang, Dan Liu, Namila, Band of Outsiders, Erin Fetherston, Prabal Gurung, Irina Vitjaz, and Georgine.

Voke’s platform gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy fully immersive virtual reality experiences of live events no matter where they are. With one livestream, Voke can deliver VR directly to fans in multiple formats, including True VR for headsets, 2D immersive content for mobile devices, and 180-to-360-degree feeds for the web. Intel is an investor in Voke.
