It’s interesting to watch executives compliment their competitors — because it always seems unbelievable. In the past week, that quirky behavior has played out left and right, before and after cloud file-sharing company Box’s initial public offering.
Vineet Jain, chief executive and a cofounder of Egnyte, has been one of the most vocal in his cheering for Box, even though Egnyte can do much of what Box does — except that it also lets companies store and share files within their own data centers, not just the cloud.
Jain had plenty of good things to say about Box to VentureBeat’s Kia Kokalitcheva and Jordan Novet on the What to Think podcast this week. He also talked about Egnyte’s plans to do much more with the data that it already has on hand but never really did anything with up until this point.
