Yes, there will be Angry Birds for Windows Phone 7

A squabble occurred between Microsoft and the Finnish game house Rovio, maker of the incredibly popular mobile game Angry Birds. Microsoft used the Angry Birds logo when launching its mobile operating system, Windows Phone 7, without Rovio’s consent, which didn’t go down well with the company. But now, Rovio has confirmed a Windows Phone 7 version of the hit game.

In truth, it makes a whole lot of sense for Rovio to let go whatever grievances it may have from the incident. The company is all about saturating the market with their game across all devices, cellphones, tablets and game consoles alike. It has been very aggressive in bringing its hit game to any and all platforms, and it also nabbed a tie-in with an animated movie.

In addition to the Microsoft deal, Rovio says it is developing a 3D version of the game, but it hasn’t yet announced any release dates. Rovio has confirmed the game will be available in 3D for Nintendo 3DS, but other devices are yet unconfirmed. The 3D versions should be coming along at a nice pace, though, since Rovio acquired 3D gaming company Pixelgene back in 2006.

And for Microsoft, this comes as another sweet bit of news after announcing a major deal with Finnish cellphone maker Nokia. Not only will Windows Phone 7 have huge distribution on devices due to an alliance with a strong manufacturer, it will also have access to one of the hottest mobile games.

Rovio hasn’t yet announced when it will release the Windows Phone 7 version of the game.
