Update on Friday, December 18: Xbox Live is down again for some.

People are having troubles getting their Xbox One to function.

Xbox Live is experiencing an intermittent outage, according to a number of complaints on social media. People are reporting issues connecting to online multiplayer games as well as certain primarily single-player adventures that require a constant connection to a third-party server. This is affecting games like Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Destiny, and more. Additionally, this outage is preventing many from using online video services like Netflix, Hulu, and Xbox Video.

Microsoft has updated its support website with more information:

“Hey Xbox members, are you having trouble purchasing or managing your subscriptions for Xbox Live? Are you also having an issue with signing into Xbox Live? We are aware of these issues and are working to get it fixed ASAP! Thank you for being patient while we work. We’ll post another update when more information becomes available.”

This does not seem like a widespread outage at the moment, and it could come back online at any moment. Troubles like these are common for Xbox Live. Since suffering a major cyberattack last Christmas that took the service offline for an entire day, Microsoft’s Xbox Live has gone offline multiple times.

Of course, Microsoft isn’t alone here. Sony’s PlayStation Network has gone down as many times, if not more, than Xbox Live. And it was offline for five straight days as the result of the same Christmastime cyberattack.
