XboxDVR site makes it easier to get your Xbox One recordings on YouTube

Microsoft has left its GameDVR feature open for developers to build on, and that’s led to a new feature that’ll make it faster for you to share your clips to the biggest video site on the Internet.

Website XboxDVR.com now has full YouTube integration. So as you record videos on your Xbox One, you can hit one button to add those clips to your YouTube account from this third-party site. All you need to do is register for XboxDVR and agree to tie that site to your Google account. This is a great example of how Microsoft and Xbox One players benefit from keeping the GameDVR feature open for anyone to use, as XboxDVR is taking advantage of that to build features that Microsoft itself hasn’t even added.

The process is simple. After you capture a clip — by double clicking the Xbox button or saying “Xbox, record that” — your videos will automatically show up on XboxDVR. From here, you need to do is find the clip and hit the YouTube button. You’ll get a popup window where you can add a title and description, and then the next thing you know the video will end up on YouTube.

I tried this out myself with the following clip, and the process was super-simple:

It’s really nice having the option to do this all on the PC since I don’t like typing with a controller. This also joins the GIF creator on XboxDVR to give the site a really robust set of features that make maintaining and sharing your gaming accomplishments easy and fun.

We’d still like to see Microsoft properly integrate things like YouTube sharing or Twitter sharing. PlayStation 4 has both of those, and it’s useful. But at the same time, we’d like to see the PS4 get an XboxDVR.com equivalent.
