Yahoo has launched a group texting feature, called Mixd. We found it straight-forward to sign up.
It reminds us of other group messaging features, such as 3Jam. Like with 3Jam, for example, Mixd can be tricky to figure out how to create a group at first, but easy once you’ve got the hang of it, and if you’re limiting your session to an evening and don’t have multiple groups. There is no download, which makes it competitive with other services. Of course, Yahoo throws in a way for you to exchange photos and vidoes, too, and lets you see it all on the Web too.
See our post on 3Jam, where there are plenty of other services mentioned, including Radio Handi. Various forms of group texting have existed on carriers in other countries. Yahoo came up as an example of a service with “public” groups. This latest service gives you a way to create private groups to text with. (Techcrunch did a post on this earlier)
