Box has updated its Microsoft partnership with a feature enabling you to easily access files from the cloud-based file storage service onto the mobile versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This comes months after Box was named to Microsoft’s Cloud Storage Partner Program (CSPP), which has expanded today to Android devices.

Starting today, you can select Box as the default cloud service in Office for Android. When enabled, you can easily access, edit, or create content from the native mobile apps. This means that you can take that spreadsheet and fill in some missing details before saving it back to Box. Additionally, you can assign tasks to collaborators, complete a PowerPoint, and more. No longer will you have to save files from Box into Google Drive or another cloud service just to open it up in Office for Android.

After years of poking fun at Microsoft, in 2013 Box struck a partnership with the software technology company. Among the integrations include generating shareable links for email attachments and a beta program for Box’s tie-in with Office 365 on desktop. It previously let you create and edit Office Online files, but today as promised, it has brought these features to mobile apps.
