You can now preorder Nextbit’s Robin: A smartphone with its head in the clouds

It’s difficult to avoid writing a flight pun when discussing the launch of a smartphone named Robin. You know what’s easier, though? Preordering the thing.

Nextbit announced today on Twitter that its cloud-based mobile device, Robin, is available for preorder at $400. If you hemmed and hawed over jumping into the Kickstarter and missed out, then this is your second chance to get in on it — although you’re missing out on the $100 break the first 1,000 backers received. Customers can choose from two color options, mint or midnight (also known as pastel teal and default modern device black).

As reported earlier, the Nextbit Robin’s big selling point is that users will be able to take advantage of an unlimited cloud storage service, which can be used to dump photos and apps. This will help free up the device’s 32GB storage space.

The phone will also feature a Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of memory, a 5.2″ 1080p IPS, a fingerprint scanner, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera, and amplified dual speakers.

There’s no word on a specific release date outside of Q1 2016.
