OK, well, this one is optional. The burden is on iDevices, a startup in the smart home market, to convince us that we need to connect our wall sockets, light switches, and light bulbs to the Internet.

It’s all part of the smart home market, which is expected to grow to $71 billion by 2018, according to Jupiter Research. At the 2016 International CES, iDevices will be one of 900 companies showing off the Internet of Things, where everyday objects become smart and Internet-connected.

Avon, Connecticut-based iDevices is announcing four new connected-home products at CES. These products hook up to an app that lets you control the objects.

They include the iDevices Socket, Wall Switch, Dimmer Switch, and Wall Outlet.

iDevices previously launched Homekit-enabled devices, including the iDevices Switch, Outdoor Switch, and Thermostat. Those devices are already on sale and are accessible via iOS devices and with Siri voice commands.

These new products “embody iDevices’ mission of evolving people’s homes through responsive products that enhance everyday life,” the company said.

“Our team is laser-focused on developing user-centric products that accelerate the next generation of the connected home,” said Chris Allen, CEO of iDevices, in a statement. “Socket and the three in-wall products we are announcing today signify the next stage of the iDevices evolution and our dedication to connecting users with products that enhance their lives.”

You can screw any standard light bulb into the iDevices Socket and then control the lights with an app. The iDevices Socket will be available for sale in Q1 of 2016.

The iDevices Wall Switch and Dimmer Switch allow you to control your home’s lighting from any location using the app. They will both be available in the second quarter of 2016.

The iDevices Wall Outlet gives you the ability to control power to an outlet. It will be ready for sale in the third quarter. No word on pricing just yet.
