YouTube’s Hurley: Gates trying to build YouTube clone

Chad Hurley, the 29-year-old YouTube chief executive, was the center of attention at the AlwaysOn conference yesterday.

During a panel discussion, Hurley was asked about a recent remark by Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates, who said he would not be interested in acquiring YouTube because of all the pirated videos on the site. “It’s interesting to hear his perspective,” he responded. After all, he added, “they are trying to build a clone of our service.”
