Today YouTube is releasing a new version of YouTube Director, the iOS app it created to convince businesses to make and buy YouTube video ads.

YouTube says the app and accompanying tools let businesses make video ads “quickly and easily right from their phone” with “no editing experience required.” The app is currently only available in Canada and the U.S. — although the company tells us it plans to expand to other countries.

Some business owners may be digitally savvy enough to make a functional ad via their iPhone, but it’s not a big leap to imagine that many cannot, and YouTube apparently feels the same; in addition to the app, the company says it will also start sending filmmakers “to film and edit a video ad for free whenever a business spends at least $150 to advertise on YouTube.” That service is only available in certain U.S. cities (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington D.C.).

Lastly, YouTube is releasing a new tool that enables app companies to create automated video ads using photos of their logo and screenshots of their app. That feature, YouTube says, is available globally.
